Level 1 (easy to learn, easy to play, and FUN!)
What's the word for a game that is quick, fun, easy to play, and great for mayors, werewolves, techies, gamers, and non-gamers alike? Oh, right. Werewords!
You'll need an app for this one (iOS/Android, free in the US). Each player is given a secret role. Someone is the Seer, someone is the Werewolf, and the rest of you are villagers (sorry, but you don't get pitchforks). The only role that isn't secret is the Mayor, and the Mayor runs the app.
The villagers (plus the Seer and Werewolf in disguise) guess a magic word by relentlessly peppering the Mayor with yes/no questions in a given time frame. The secret Werewolf may look like a villager chiming in with helpful questions, but the Werewolf knows the magic word and is actively working to sabotage the villagers' chances of finding it. As a balance, the secret Seer also knows the magic word and has to try to counteract the damage the Werewolf is doing. The villagers are just trying to guess the magic word before time is up.
Our favorite part is that the roles can get all mixed together, and there are lots of ways to win. The villagers win if they guess the magic word - unless the Werewolf can identify the Seer. The Werewolf wins if the villagers don't guess the magic word - unless the villagers identify the Werewolf! Or what happens when the Mayor... is the Werewolf?
No one plays this game just once. Try it with your friends. We dare you! Or check out one of our other favorite hidden-role games like The Resistance: Avalon or Coup.
