Level 3 (for advanced gamers looking for a challenge)
This is an expansion to Sleeping Gods. The base game is required to play.
This expansion adds dungeons at six specific points on the map. (We refer to them exclusively as the temples from Ocarina of Time.) Dungeons are at their finest when campaign gameplay gets a bit too difficult. Duck into a dungeon and get an edge on your next encounter.
Why explore a dungeon? The loot, of course! Unique totems, adventure cards, allies, and tokens! Tokens are consumable items that you can use in the main campaign. Some of the effects include the bomb (deals 2 points of damage), a potion (restores 3 health), and an antidote (removes 2 venom).
Dungeons are mechanically different from the main game. Player actions include movement, exploration, and camping. Camping regains health or reduces fatigue, allowing the party to stay in longer. Camping has a cost. Time passes and you must discard an event card from the ship. Camping encounters are drawn from a deck of cards. The effects can be good or bad, but will always be interesting.
Sleeping Gods: Dungeons fits in the main box.
- Loot! Offers tangible benefits to the main game
- More content to a game we can't get enough of - and it fits in the main box (or comes in a lovely box of its own)
- Beautiful artwork
- Pedigreed designer
Sleeping Gods: Tides of Ruin seamlessly integrates to the main Sleeping Gods game. It adds more of everything (maps, stories, adventure cards, quest cards, and enemy cards) with few mechanical changes to the game. Introduces a stand alone arcade mode.
Sleeping Gods: Dungeons is a box of sidequests. It adds new mechanics in six specific points on the map. Gameplay feels different in the dungeons. Grants consumable items for use in the main campaign.
Bottom line: Both expansions can be added to the game even if you have never played it before. If you add both expansions at the same time, you are going to encounter Tides of Ruins expansion cards faster and more frequently than Dungeons cards.
