About the Game:

Arkham Horror is a Living Card Game (LCG). In this cooperative card game about investigators and elder gods, you are armed with a deck you built yourself and you fight against a series of difficult scenarios with delightful twists and turns.

The investigators (the roles you choose) are well crafted. Each one has an ability that makes you feel like a minor deity when you save the day single handed. Each one also has a specialized weakness, which can have the opposite of said deity effect.

Each player builds their own deck prior to playing the game. There are pre-built decks included for those intimidated by that notion. The unique deck you build yourself changes as you progress. This box contains everything you need to play the game for three scenarios. An ever growing expansion list offers new scenarios, investigators, and mythos cards.

Instead of dice, this game uses a bag filled with symbols. The scenario dictates which symbols are added to the bag. This bag is also the difficulty modifier; simply take out some of the more difficult symbols for an easier game.

It is impossible to lose this game. All Lovecraft games are difficult, but we love that whenever a scenario goes dark (it will), there is no need to replay. You simply log it and continue the narrative.

Why we chose this for Board's Edge Games:

  • We love love the Lovecraft theme (yep, that's 2-3 loves)
  • Great for 2 players (not all games are!)
  • Difficult scenarios with surprising twists (great for those looking for challenge)
  • Character variety - a whole spectrum of strengths and weaknesses

Selected Awards and Honors:
